One of the advantages of Penn State’s location in central Pennsylvania is the beautiful weather, pumpkin patches, apple picking, and foliage in the fall. To take advantage of this, Springfield takes a trip with the Silbaugh family in October to an apple picking farm!
The apple picking visit is one of the first family visits of year and it’s highly anticipated as a great way to start off getting to know one of our four amazing families. There are plenty of other opportunities throughout the year as well, but the apple picking visit is a small one - so you can really get to know other Springfielders and sisters Calli and Syd!
Calli and Syd give us all energy and we spend the day running around in the picturesque outdoors. We pick apples, look for our perfect pumpkin, play checkers at the picnic tables, and of course play one of Calli’s favorite games - Duck, duck, goose.
Not only does the apple picking visit give you an entire day of fun and laughs, but you also get to bring home fresh apples. While we won’t get to feature all of our exciting family visits here, the apple picking visit is just one of many opportunities to bond with Springfielders while getting to know the families. They remind returning members why we continue to fight so hard against pediatric cancer, and family visits are often the reason new members choose to become more involved with Springfield.
Springfield is proud to be so close with our incredible families, and this day is just one of the many times we get to continue to foster and grow those relationships!
