Homecoming is a long lasting tradition at Penn State. The weekend itself involves a massive parade, carnival games, free giveaways, and a special football game! Springfield also has its own traditions to celebrate this weekend in the fall semester!
Kenzie, our veteran THON child, rides in the parade every year with Vamos Todd with dozens of Springfielders walking alongside of her! We reunite with alumni, and solidify friendships with members that recently joined. There’s nothing like walking the parade route to get Springfielders excited and talking! For those who don’t want to walk, we have a group sit together to watch the parade go by and cheer when we see the Springfield banner coming down! This year, we also had a pumpkin painting session in the HUB during the weekend.
Homecoming is something all Penn Staters look forward to, but having a group like Springfield to share it with makes it even better! In addition to the parade, we have smaller events throughout the weekend - a perfect way to meet new friends or continue to see people we’ve met over the first part of the semester!
