Springfielders see each other constantly during the school year - at least once a week at Sunday evening meetings, usually an additional event, and as friends getting dinner or doing homework. Settling into the start of the summer and recuperating from finals, people start to miss Penn State and 233 HUB, so Springfielders love any excuse to get together and reunite after some time away from our friends and THON families.
In the summer of 2017, we had our first trip to Knoebels, an amusement park in Elysburg, Pennsylvania. That year, we got to see all four of our families for a great summer day filled with laughs, rides, and a few sunburns! Despite being scattered by internships or vacations, Springfielders from all over made the trip to Knoebels, making this visit one of the highlights of the summer and a trip that members look forward to continuing!
John Stedge, a senior, remembers Knoebels as one of the best days of the summer because “not only is it a full day with our wonderful families, it’s a full weekend with some of the greatest people in the world!”
Hailey Atiyeh thinks Knoebels is such a special Springfield event “because all of us got to spend quality time with our families all in one place, while also reuniting with so many Springfielders that we missed over the summer.”
We can’t wait to make our third trip there this summer!
