Where are you from?
Ellicott City, Maryland
What year are you and how long have you been in Springfield?
Junior and Third Year!!!
Why did you join Springfield?
Joining Springfield happened very strategically for me. A few other freshman and myself had conjured up a plan to tactfully find the best Special Interest Organization for us. Half of us went to one organizations meeting, and the other went to Springfield's meeting. Luckily, I was in the Springfield half of the group. Myself and two other freshman I had just met were flung into a room of what felt like hundreds of students...but somehow instead of feeling intimidated, I felt extremely excited and found myself just staring at the current members in awe of how much fun they were having at a MEETING. Long story short, we went back and met up with the other half of the freshman and consulted on our experiences in an oddly serious way and Springfield gave off the impression that we were going to be welcomed and trusted with helping towards THON's mission, even as freshman.
What is your favorite Springfield memory?
My favorite Springfield memory was at Springfield Day my sophomore year. All the different teams invested so much time and energy into their theme and made the silly olympic type games seem so fun and competitive. KREWbron James marched proudly across Old Main Lawn with the victorious Lebron James cardboard cut out we had with no ounce of embarrassment in their bones. That was something that really stuck with me as a lot of us hadn't known each other for long before this event..and with just THON and Springfield in common, we all came together and had such a good time together.
What does Springfield mean to you?
Springfield means SUPPORT! While a huge part of THON's success is based around how much money we raise FTK, it takes a lot of support from those around us to understand and appreciate the impact taking the extra time out has on other people's lives. Without Springfield, I wouldn't have the hope or courage to do half the things I have helped and seem THON accomplish.
