Where are you from?
What year are you and how long have you been in Springfield?
Senior, Fall of Freshmen year.
Why did you join Springfield?
Watching my older brother be so active in the THON community when I was in High School was one of the determining factors in my decision to come to Penn State- I didn't think I would find more of a self purpose at any other school. I specifically joined Springfield because of my brother, who was very active in the organization throughout his 4 years at Penn State. From the first meeting there was no turning back for me. Springfield is truly something special in that it has this magical way of making everyone feel included by offering such a wide array of different events throughout the year that make it so easy to find your best friends.
What is your favorite Springfield memory?
My favorite Springfield memory was total reveal for THON 2017. This was the first time in a very long time that Springfield was named the top fundraising organization in the special interest category. It was truly something special after serving as the Canning & Canvassing Chair for THON 2017 and putting in a ton of time and effort in to see it all payoff. It was something that seemed like such a far off possibility that when we were announced as the number one fundraising organization in special interest I just melted and cried tears of happiness (for the first time) into Annalise Jethon.
What does Springfield mean to you?
Springfield means unity to me. No matter what walk of life you come from, the fight against pediatric cancer unites us all. The fact that you can get college students to give up an entire weekend when they are full time students, during football season (even sometimes giving up a home football game) to go fundraise makes you stop and think about how lucky you are to be surrounded by such good natured and genuine people. No matter what kind of day you're having, within Springfield you will always have a friendly face to wave to, talk to, and hang out with regardless of age or major.
