Where are you from?
What year are you and how long have you been in Springfield?
Rising Sophomore. Been in SF for 1 year
Why did you join Springfield?
I was sitting in Pollock Commons the first week of school and all of the tables were full. Next thing I know, a guy says to me, "There's a seat over here if you want!". We talked for a bit, he was a sophomore at the time. I asked him about clubs. I knew Penn State was known for this thing called THON, but coming from outside of Pennsylvania, I didn't really know anything about it besides the name. He told me about Springfield. While he was talking his eyes lit up and the thought of this club alone instantly put a smile on his face. He said it was a club where he both helped raise money for children with cancer and made his best friends. He told me the informational meeting was that Sunday and I went. That was one of the best decisions I've made in my life.
What is your favorite Springfield memory?
Early in the year we all went on a canning trip. Basically, this is when you go to a town and try to raise money for THON. During the weekend, there was a Penn State football game so the house we stayed out made us an outdoor movie theater for us to enjoy the game. In the span of that approximately 2 hour game, my canning group became closer than ever. That was the first time where I felt truly included at college and it was a great feeling to have. I knew I found my people.
What does Springfield mean to you?
Springfield somehow gets the best group of people possible without having any kind of application or audition process. It's kind of strange actually. The nicest, funniest, most empathetic people you will ever meet all coming together for one amazing cause. I'm so proud to be a Springfield Spartan and I know everyone else in the club is too.
