The Negley Family

In February 2007, at the age of 2, Renata Negley was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), the most common form of leukemia in children. Later that year, the Negleys became the newest addition to the Springfield family, attending their first THON with us in 2008. Renata completed her treatment in July 2009, and Springfield threw her a party to celebrate! She has now been cancer-free for over 5 years, and after THON 2013, the Negleys decided to step away from THON to give more families the opportunity to benefit from the cause.

Like other parents before us have said, THON has replaced the memories of unpleasant hospital stays and long days of feeling ill with the happy memories of squirt gun battles, playing dress-up, and dance parties. THON has provided a community of love and support that we never imagined could exist and, to top it all off, THON’s commitment to the Four Diamonds Fund has taken the financial strain that may have strangled us and blown it away like dust in the wind. What a heartfelt thing to do, to take away that burden and allow us to consentrate on making our little girl well again. This is a gift for which we are truly grateful!
