From restaurant fundraisers to dress-down days at work, there are plenty of ways for alumni to stay involved and raise money for THON. Please click here to learn more about the rules for alumni fundraising. If you would like to do an alumni fundraiser for Springfielder, please contact Donor and Alumni Relations Chair Sarah Hohman at email@example.com.
New to this year, you can fundraise online as an alumni group using the Springfield Alumni Donor Drive page found at here. Now, you can participate in our online campaigns, share your donor drive link, and compete in fundraising for pediatric cancer.
THON Weekend Alumni Lunch
Every THON weekend alumni get together for a reunion lunch. It's an opportunity for our alumni to feel that THON weekend magic again with the friends they once stood side by side with in the BJC. It's a lunch of reminiscing over late nights spent at Springfield meetings, past family visits, early fundraising weekend wake-up calls, cherished THON weekend memories, and so much more from those four years as a Springfield Spartan.
All Star Craft Beer & Wine Festival 2018:
To kick off the summer this past May we had an alumni outing to Citizens Bank Park for the All Star Craft Beer & Wine Festival. Alumni from the Philadelphia area had the chance to appreciate the warm weather, catch up with old friends and enjoy the festival!
Every fall semester Springfield hosts an alumni tailgate. It is a cherished tradition that brings together old friends and new for a day of PSU football fun. It's an opportunity for alumni who now live far apart to reconnect and for current Springfielders to chat with those who shaped our organization!
The date for this year is: September 14 (Pitt).
Kathleen Robertson Memorial Ceremony:
In September 2014, Springfield lost an incredible member of our family. After a courageous battle with cancer, Kathleen Robertson passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Kathleen was a wonderful person full of kindness and optimism, no matter what life threw her way. Shortly after her passing a group of alumni began a campaign to honor her memory by planting a cherry tree in the Simmons Hall courtyard. In July 2015, a group of thirty Springfield alumni, current members, and Kenzie gathered at Simmons Hall to dedicate the tree and a plaque in her honor. Springfield alumni in attendance were able to speak about what Kathleen means to them and share stories of her impact on them during their time at Penn State. Even Springfielders as far away as Japan were able to write in and have their memories read at the ceremony. They also decorated the tree with dozens of paper cranes similar to the cranes that Springfield gave to Kathleen for good luck before one of her surgeries. The cranes decorated Kathleen’s house until her passing and always reminded Kathleen of Springfield’s love for her.
