Meet the Colons
If you ask a Springfielder to describe the Colon Family, you'll undoubtedly hear that they are fun...and maybe a little bit wild and crazy, but in the best possible way. You'll be completely exhausted by the end of a few hours with them, but it's well worth it! Megan and Tito have two extremely energetic sons, Victor and Xander. Victor, 18, is a recent high school graduate, and Xander, 13, is a rising soccer star! Springfielders have made countless amazing memories over the last several years with the Colons, and we have also done our best to support them through their experience with pediatric cancer.

Xavier Colon, the Colons' second son, was born on November 28, 2004. In late 2005, at the age of 1, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a complex form of Leukemia that is very difficult to treat. Even though he was only a baby, he fought his cancer bravely, and Springfield affectionately called him our "little X-man." The entire organization fell in love with him when he attended his first THON in 2006. Sadly, on March 18, 2006, Xavier passed away. Even though he is no longer physically with us, we continue to keep his memory alive and play an active role in the Colons' lives. In the past few years we have cheered on Xander at his soccer and basketball games, explored haunted houses at Shocktoberfest, danced at the BJC THON weekend with the Colons, and made so many incredible memories along the way.
Although no current Springfield members had the chance to meet Xavier, he is one of the primary reasons why we THON. No matter what he was going through, he always had a smile on his face. He was full of energy and fought bravely until the end. His memory will be with us forever, and we always keep him in mind as we support the fight against pediatric cancer. He will always be Springfield's angel.
